Engr. H. S. Tahir has been appointed as the General Manager, Materials Management Division of the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS).
Engr. Tahir graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria in Kaduna State of Nigeria in 1977. He also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Manufacturing Technology & Project Design from East Warickshire, College, United Kingdom.
He joined the services of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in September 1991 as a Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer and was deployed to Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company as a Technical Services and Projects Engineer.
Engr. Tahir at various times served as a Special Depot Manager in the Warri and Mosimi Depots respectively. He was also the Venture Manager of Okwori and Akpo Field Development Projects under the NNPC/ADDAX and NNPC/TOTAL/SAPETRO/PETROBRAS Production Sharing Contract Ventures.
Until his recent appointment as General Manager, Materials Management, he had worked in various capacities in the Oil & Gas and other Sectors. His career in NNPC has seen him holding such positions as Manager Materials Management, NAPIMS; Supply Chain Manager, NPDC; and Deputy Manager, Project Scoping, Gas Division, NAPIMS.
Before Joining the NNPC, Engr. Tahir was once a Dean and Deputy Provost of the College of Education, Jalingo. He was later appointed as the Manager in charge of Adamawa State Central Mechanical Workshop.
Engr. Tahir is a Corporate Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and registered Engineer with COREN. His hobbies include reading, farming and sight seeing.
He is happily married with children.
