Hadiza Yusuf Coomassie read law at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and obtained a Diploma-in-Law in 1981 and LLB(Hons) degree in 1984. She proceeded to the Law School in Lagos and obtained a B.L. in 1985. Thereafter, she did her National Youth Service Corp at the Federal Ministry of Justice, Lagos between 1985 and 1986.
In 1987, she was employed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and was deployed to the LNG Unit. She assisted in the conceptualization of the LNG project and the eventual incorporation of Nigeria LNG Limited as well as its subsidiary (based in Bermuda) called Bonny Gas Transport in 1989.
She was absorbed into Nigeria LNG Limited on secondment until 2006, during this period she was exposed to activities relating to the realization of the initial two-Train LNG plant and subsequent expansions up to Train Six.
In 2006, she was de-seconded to NNPC and deployed to NAPIMS. The upstream experience has exposed her to a wide-range of joint venture and PSC activities.
She is a member of the Inter-Agency team vested with the responsibility of reviewing the government memorandum on the Petroleum Industry Bill.
Hadiza has attended various professional and management courses in her career. Mrs Coomassie, who is currently the Acting General Manger of the Legal Division in NAPIMS is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, International Bar Association and Nigerian Gas Association.
