The GM JV Operations

Mr. Monday A. Agbuza has been appointed as the General Manager, Joint Venture Operations Division of the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS).

He holds B.Sc (Hons) degree in Geology (1978) from the University of Ibadan and Post Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Exploration (1986) from the Norwegian Institute of Technology, University of Trondheim, Norway.

He did his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with the Nigerian Steel Development Authority (NSDA) Kaduna from August 1978 to August 1979, 
where he worked as Hard Rock Industrial Mineral Exploration Geologist.

Mr. Agbuza joined the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on August 27, 1979 as a Wellsite Geologist - 2 in the defunct Exploration and Exploitation (E & E) Division. His career in NNPC has seen holding various positions namely:

Well Site Geologist/Engineer in the Chad Basin Operations
Chief Geologist in NPDC where he generated and proposed three Exploration and seven Appraisal Wells which were drilled and found to be successful
Acting Manager, Exploration Department in NPDC, Benin. During this period, he upgraded the Cartographic Unit and the Landmark Workstation from ultra-1 to ultra-80. He initiated and executed the acquisition of 3D seismic data in NPDC Onshore concession and carried out the 3D seismic interpretation using the Landmark Workstation and identified multiple oil bearing horizons in Okono/Okpoho fields and in OML-64 which was previously unknown. He proposed Exploration and Appraisal Wells to test the targets which were drilled and discovered oil in commercial quantities (Ugboko-1 in OML-119 formerly OPL-91, G-2.0 sand in Okono/Okpono field, Uka-1 and Kukaku-1 in OML-64).

He was redeployed to NAPIMS as Manager, JV Exploration on January 11, 2007 where he led several “Subcommittee” meetings and carried out workshops with JV Partners on different subsurface and surface projects. Some of the additional reserves that accrued during this time are Etisong-1 and 2 wells for TEPNG, Ekura-1 well for CNL, Pegi-1 well for MPN, to mention a few etc.

He had mentored several Geoscientists on E & P activities which has earned him the nickname “Subsurface” among his peers. He is a specialist in identifying low resistivity oil bearing sands, 3D/2D seismic data acquisition/interpretation, prospect and basin evaluation and has eyes for details.

He was appointed as General Manager, JV. Operations Division, NAPIMS on July 22, 2009. He is a Certified Petroleum Geologist (CPG) of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG).  Some of his professional affiliations include NMGS, NAPE, SEG and SPE.

His hobbies are football, athletics and reading.

He is happily married with children.
