The GM Gas Operations

Engr. Paul Duro Ajisafe has been appointed as the General Manager (GM) of Gas Division of the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS).

Engr. Ajisafe attended the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, where he obtained the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (B.ENG.) in Mechanical Engineering. He did his National Youth Service Corps (N.Y.S.C.) with the Central Water Transportation Company (CWTC) in Onitsha, Anambra State as a Mechanical Engineer from 1976 to 1977, and worked with the Kwara State Water Corporation, Ilorin, Kwara State, from August to November 1977, as a Pupil Mechanical Engineer.

Engr. Ajisafe joined the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Group, in December 1977, as a Project Mechanical Engineer on the Warri Refinery Project during the construction of the Refinery.

Before his appointment as the GM, Gas Division of NAPIMS, Paul worked in various capacities in both the Upstream and Downstream sectors of NNPC namely:

As Trainee Inspection Engineer on Kaduna Refinery  Project - trained in Japan by the Project Contractor in Japan
Mechanical Engineer, supervising the NNPC Escravos Tank Farm
Inspection/Scheduling Project Engineer for the NNPC’s Phase 1 Petrochemicals Project
Planning/Scheduling Engineer for the Eleme Petrochemicals Project involved in the Feasibility Studies for the Project
Project Leader for the Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) Project to provide feedstock to the Eleme Petrochemicals Complex.
Project Leader and Venture Manager for several Joint Venture(JV) and Production Sharing Contract(PSC) Projects.

He also held the positions of Chief Engineer, JV (Oil) Division; Deputy Manager, Gas Division; Manager, Facilities Department, Production Sharing Contracts (PSC) Division of NAPIMS, Manager, Fire, Safety & Environment and Manager, Materials Management Department of the NNPC’s Nigeria Gas Company (NGC), Warri, Delta State.

Paul was transferred back to NAPIMS in 2006 as the Manager, Project Management Department (now Investment Management Department), Gas Division, before he was promoted to the General Manager, Gas Division, NAPIMS, in July, 2009.

He holds the professional Certificate in Construction Management, from Essex County College, New Jersey, U.S.A. and International Diploma in Risk & Safety Management (IIRSM) from the International Institute of Safety Management (British Safety Council), London, U.K. (2002).  He is also a member of a number of professional bodies, including the Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE), Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria (COREN), International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) and Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals (NISP).

He is happily married with children and fancies Singing, Reading, Football (Soccer) and Charity Works.
